Here’s What I’ve Learned About Hub Pages

I’ve Just created my first Hub Page and want to share my lessons learned. Here is the Hub Page for yourto check out: http://hubpages.com/hub/Genewize-Success?preview

1. when you first publish your hub (from the Edit mode, there is a Publish button), it takes a couple of days for them to approve it. It was not super obvious to me that the page was “in review” and not yet published.

2. when you “test” your hub, you have to be sure you are logged out of your www.hubpages.com account to perform a “true” test.

3. you can’t have many links going out from your hub page. One url at the beginning to your domain, and one at the end. That’s about it, or it won’t be approved.

4. overall, this is not as easy to build as a Squidoo lens.

5. What I learned from Ross Goldberg – a successful social networking marketer – is that Squidoo Lenses and Hub Pages are “blogs on steroids”. Try to get in the habit of updating them regularly with new content, such as adding (or replacing) a new video, adding a new post/comment. And ping the site every time you make a change (do it immediately after the change). Can use ipings.com to do that. The frequent pinging will bring traffic.

Here is my goal: updating my two blogs daily, and my lens and hub weekly. I am able to do this by saving every post I write that adds value (such as this one) to OMU and to forums. I keep and ongoing Word doc, called “posts”.

I then use this written material when I need content for a new blog post. The lens and hub page posts are just a blog post that I’ve written, or a new video I’ve created.

My posts are mostly about stuff I’ve learned on team calls, internet marketing virtual seminars, being on people’s lists such as team mates and other internet marketers, or just things I’ve learned from trying things out on the internet. You can simply blog about your experiences of joining this team, this company and of learning internet marketing and network markering.

For those of you newbies to internet marketing, creating a Squidoo Lens or Hub Page will be much easier and faster than creating a blog. You can do a Word Press blog later on, when you’ve gotten your feet real wet.
